Recap of the "Super Tuesday" Tornado Outbreak - February 5, 2008

February 5, 2008 will go down in Mid-South weather lore for its destructive nature. While the final stats are still being added up, the Memphis office of the National Weather Service (NWS) recorded as many as 19 tornados in their County Warning Area (CWA) during the late afternoon and evening hours on the 5th. The death toll, though it could have been much worse, totals 56 for that day. Below you will find many of the graphics, maps, pictures, and discussions from that day. This page is dedicated to those who lost their lives that day, as well as all of the first-responders and meteorologists, both public and private, whose actions saved countless lives.
