Early forecast for the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest

As mentioned in this morning’s post, hot and humid weather is expected to greet smokers, cookers, and whole hogs this week as set up continues for the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Rain chances will be slim through Thursday, when gates open to the public. A cold front will sag south into the region Thursday night and Friday and then linger through the weekend. It’s exact location through the weekend will determine rain chances and temperatures. Though this doesn’t provide for a very “confident” forecast, it does mean that we can expect some periods of scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend. Here’s MWN’s early look at the upcoming weekend forecast:

THURSDAY – Partly sunny and hot with noticeable, but not suffocating, humidity. Breezy with a slight chance of afternoon t’storms. High of 88. Rain chance 20%.

FRIDAY – Partly sunny with a chance of thunderstorms anytime. Morning low near 70. Afternoon high around 85. Rain chance 40%.

SATURDAY – Partly sunny with a chance of mainly afternoon thunderstorms. Slightly less humidity. Morning low near 65. Afternoon high near 84. Rain chance 30%.
