The Memphis metropolitan area has been placed under a
SLIGHT RISK of severe weather for the Wednesday late afternoon and overnight timeframe (see top graphic above). The
Storm Prediction Center expects storms to break out to our west Wednesday afternoon as strong heating and approaching low pressure combine. These storms will move into east Arkansas by evening and will impact portions of the area after dark. The greatest threat of severe weather (see bottom map above) is expected to be over Arkansas. Storms are expected to be linear in nature (perhaps multiple lines of storms) posing mainly a damaging wind and large hail threat, though isolated tornadoes cannot bu ruled out in any discrete storms that form.
