Mid-South snowfall accumulations from January 20, 2011

The Mid-South expereinced the second snowfall in less than two weeks on January 20, 2011.  Snow began around noon in the metropolitan area and was heaviest during the mid-afternoon hours before ending during the evening rush hour. Skies cleared overnight and temperatures plummeted into the teens, allowing freezing fog to form in some areas, especially rural areas of west TN.  Most major school districts were closed on Friday, January 21, as road conditions remained hazardous throughout the morning hours.  Below is a summary of Mid-South snowfall accumulations as provided by the National Weather Service office in Memphis.  At Cirrus Weather Solutions in Bartlett, the snow total was 1.9″.
