April 2026 Climate Report for Memphis, TN

.The streak of warm temperatures since late winter continued into spring as much of the United States outside of the northern Plains averaged well above normal. In Memphis, temperatures were over five degrees above normal for the month with only seven days in total below normal. The month was the third warmest April on record, while the period of March 1-April 3o was the warmest on record in Memphis.

For most of the month dry weather dominated, resulting worsening drought conditions (severe drought for the entire metro). However, overall precipitation totals for the month masked this precipitation deficit due to severe storms with torrential rainfall at the end of the month.

Only an inch of rain was recorded through the 27th before multiple rounds of storms on the 28th resulted in daily record rainfall of nearly 3.5 inches. Bartlett recorded over four inches from the same storms. Scattered wind damage also resulted from the severe storms.
