March 2025 Climate Report for Memphis, TN

Temperatures were well above average across much of the central and eastern United States in March and the Mid-South was no exception. Only eight days during the month averaged below normal in Memphis. The month started cool with highs in the 50s and 60s and lows frequently in the 30s. A warm-up in the second week saw highs reach the 70s to 80 degrees. With a few short-lived exceptions behind cold fronts, it generally stayed very mild most of the rest of the month, particularly the last week of the month when highs reached the upper 70s to lower 80s on several days.

The warm temperatures under high pressure kept precipitation well below average for the month, with just over 50% of normal precipitation occurring during the month. While some rain occurred weekly, about tow-thirds of the month’s total fell on the 4th and 15th with thunderstorms occurring mid-month and again at the end of the month when temperatures were at their warmest. Scattered wind and hail reports were received around the metro on the 23rd and 30th of the month.
