June 2025 Climate Report for Memphis, TN

Following a cooler than average spring, temperatures for the month of June rebounded to slightly above normal levels. While average high temperatures were very near normal, overnight lows were a bit above normal, resulting in a slightly warmer than average month. Temperatures generally warmed as the month progressed. Daytime highs were typically in the 80s until the last third of the month when highs jumped into the low to mid 90s. Low temperatures were generally in the 60s to low 70s until the late-month warm spell, when they averaged in the mid 70s, with higher dewpoints keeping them warmer.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms were fairly common across the Memphis metro, at least for the first few weeks of the month. Rainfall amounts varied widely as localized downpours often resulted in an inch or two of rain in many areas, while other areas nearby saw little. As evidence of that, Bartlett received twice as much rain as Memphis International Airport, though even the airport was above average for the month. The Bartlett weather station experienced five days with more than an inch of rain, while the airport only recorded three.

Severe thunderstorms occurred on a few occasions during the month. A tornado-warned storm during the late evening of June 7 moved across far north MS producing some strong wind gusts. Thunderstorm-generated wind damage occurred on June 7th, 12th, 18th-19th and 28th, while localized flash flooding occurred on the morning of the 19th, as well as the 28th.
